Summary
He was more than happy to help— except that he was a scientist, and the data here (fake coughs, flushed cheeks, smirk, blown out pupils) seemed to point to the fact that Viktor did not need it. That this was, in fact, one of Viktor’s experiments. That Jayce was one of Viktor’s experiments.
Jayce could practically hear Viktor’s voice in his mind: ‘What would happen if I made Jayce walk across the Council room to get me a glass of water while he is stuffed with an almost cock-sized plug?’
— — —
All Jayce wants is to be close to Viktor even as they go through their bi-weekly presentation. Viktor has a solution that may be a little too perfect.

Summary
Jayce was pulled slightly, having to sit up a bit more as Viktor pulled his face towards him. Viktor slid his hand from Jayce’s hair to his cheek, holding Jayce’s face in his hands. Jayce felt short of breath, simply staring at Viktor.
A smile made it’s way onto Viktor’s face. “You can always come back to me.”
Jayce didn’t take a single breath as Viktor leaned over the rest of the distance, pressing his lips to Jayce’s softly.
Oh, Jayce thought. This is why. Viktor was why the investor had felt so wrong -- of course he was. Everything came back to him; Jayce was nothing without him.

Summary
"I know it's my imagination," Jayce spoke quietly, close to his ear, "but I can almost feel it." He rubbed his nose against the line of Viktor's throat, like an oversized cat. "The letter, on the inside." The cold metal ring of the collar was pressing into Viktor's clavicle.
Viktor felt a sudden surge of affection, so deep and overwhelming that it wrenched his breath away. For Jayce, who was weighing him down against the mattress with a comfortably even pressure, always so careful around his hipbone - even though it must have been straining to perch that way. Jayce, trusting him enough to hand him the reins, both literally and metaphorically, and press against him in the near-darkness. Jayce, who had cried after being given proof of Viktor's commitment, and did not even think to deny the fact when teased about it, still wholly unashamed and giddy. Jayce, tonight, with his face buried in Viktor's neck, hard against his hip, flushed and soft-spoken.
I love you.
The words were on his lips, as he stared at the tiled ceiling with Jayce in his arms, breathing against him.
I love you so much I think my heart might burst.

Summary
“Lying is futile…Jayce. I can see what you want.” Viktor dragged his hand down Jayce’s torso and he hated himself for arching into the touch. “…what you need.”
Jayce panted, nostrils flaring. “I don’t—I’m not—” The hand trailing down his body skirted across his stomach and Jayce sucked in a breath.
Viktor’s eyebrows drew together, his face twisting into almost a frown. “This want. These…lower desires. I no longer have need for.”
“However,” Viktor pushed his palm into Jayce’s crotch. A pitiful whimper fell from his lips. His face burned. His legs shook, on fire. Everything was so warm. Only Viktor surrounded him. “It would be cruel of me…to leave you like this.”

Summary
Viktor knew this feeling, knew it intimately; it was fear. And not just fear—terror, dread, existential mortification. He’d known these things, on some level, of course he’d known. Of course Jayce still loved him, and of course he still loved Jayce. But they didn’t say these things to each other anymore, they couldn’t. The politics of their two cities and their two hearts had taken a molten blade to that string tying them together, and cauterized it in the process. They couldn’t open up this wound, they can’t, they can’t, they can’t…
