Summary
The room is quiet; the ugly orange colour lighting up the room was hurting his eyes. James lays on his back lazily, staring up at the ceiling; the comic he was reading lays next to him, thrown to the side after two boring chapters left him unmotivated to read more.
He hears Regulus flipping the page to the book he borrowed from Remus; James tilts his head to the side and watches him, the shadow of long lashes covering his face; even with the worst lighting, Regulus will always be beautiful, breathtaking.

Summary
"It wasn't Lily that initiated the kiss. It was never Lily. She always gave James the space and time he needed to heal. Never pushing his boundaries or taking advantage, and Regulus loved her for that. If anyone was to claim the heart of James Potter, it should be Lily...and Regulus found himself weirdly okay with that."
After his death, Regulus is forced to watch as James grieves him and moves on.
Alternately: Five times James Potter couldn't love Lily Evans and one time he did.

Summary
“He’s here,” Sirius whispered. “Standing with Lord Rosier.”
Across the ballroom, James found Rosier standing near a column. He was with his twin sister, Lady Pandora Rosier, and—
It couldn’t be. James felt his stomach swoop down into the bowels of the Earth, for the man standing with Lord Rosier could not be Lord Regulus Black, Marquess of Islington. Surely, Sirius was gravely mistaken. Had he much to drink before arriving at the ball? James couldn't recall.
His throat was thick with apprehension, the cravat his valet had skillfully arranged robbing him of breath. That man could not be Sirius' brother. He could not be, because he was Gabriel Tissier, a French gentleman James had met—and rather scandalously kissed—two years ago in Paris.
“Are you quite certain?” James said, voice strangled.
Sirius looked at him with an odd expression. “Of course, I am certain. He’s my brother.”
At that moment, Mr. Tissier—or Lord Islington—looked up and met James’ gaze. Recognition flitted across his face, accompanied by a dangerous tilt of his lips. Heat raced up to James’ cheeks. So, he remembered, too.OR
The Marauders and Co. cause chaos by being gay and scandalous during the 1843 London season.
