Cole serves himself sand cake for breakfast; the most fashionable breakfast in the world, if it’s up to him. A true delicacy, the best of comforts—cake! Normally, he saves food like this for special occasions, but this morning has fit that bill well enough. He woke up feeling a bit off, with a pinch in his throat. Even brushing his teeth with purpose couldn’t clear it—so he settles on a soft, digestible breakfast. That should do it, right?

Lunch-time comes, she bites into a homemade meal, surrounded by friends. She’s wearing a long red dress, black shoes kicking beneath the bench. Having chatter around her is filling. Hushed secrets and whispers, “Is it your time yet?” She doesn’t quite get it. They're giggling, laughing, gossiping about the next big thing, she assumes. They’re going to be teenagers, how exciting!
There’s a weird noise coming from inside of her. Gurgling. It’s not hunger.

Summary
It’s nearly morning. He can feel it. He’s been awake long enough to know it.
He sits at the edge of his bed, wearing a black, day’s old gi he hadn’t bothered to change out of. He’s tired, but at least he’s not lying in bed. He should get up, start some semblance of a routine, and begin his day, but he can’t bring himself to do much more than stare at the bedside table beside him.
𝘞𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴. Lines stretching on for days. Something so mundane is the only thing he can bring himself to pay attention to right now.
But the reminders in his head don’t stop. He needs to get up. He shouldn’t be like this.

Cole wants to finally speak about things to his father. Try a coming out again? And the more he tries, the more he gets distant to his friends. Why is that?
But those ninjas can never have peace for too long, and there might be something lurking around, ready to get rid of them once and for all.

Getting thrown into a far off realm hadn’t been a purposeful decision on Cole’s behalf, but it wasn’t one that he’d change. Following Zane into a desolate wasteland of snow and ice with a broken mech, a corrupting scroll; and nothing else, he’d rather be trapped with his brother than still be at home and wondering about his well-being. Whether he’d lost him all over again. Then a stranger disrupted the fragile routine they’d established, and Cole was still willing to protect his waylaid brother.

Summary
Taylor broke up with him a month ago and he hadn’t told anyone, not because it was a secret, but because he hadn’t gotten the chance to talk to them. It reminded him so strongly of the time after the bombing that he wanted to cry. How easily forgettable he was.
Apparently punchable, as well. He’d been punched before; it came with the job as a bartender or when he tried out for Navy SEALS. Even his dad had gotten in a few good ones when he disobeyed to get their attention. None of the people who punched him mattered. Not like Chimney did. His brother, someone he loved.
But maybe Buck’s love just wasn’t enough. Not to stop people from leaving or from wanting him gone.OR: Buck is badly hurt when the flor of a building caves in. Eddie talks to him through dispatch and Chim finally apologies.
