Summary
Jaskier had known nothing good would come from climbing up a mountain in search of a dragon. Not worth the potential song material, he said. Well look at him now, proven right in the worst way, with a broken heart's worth of song material to show for it. The bard’s heart had been safe in his witcher’s care for over a decade, but in speaking this truth aloud he had condemned it. The last thing Geralt wanted was to be needed. Jaskier wouldn’t say he needed the witcher, he could get by just fine alone, but he did want him, and as with everything he wanted he did so wholeheartedly. Evidently the weight of Jaskier’s heart wasn’t something the witcher was willing to bear.
