Summary
“And you just happened to have a cowboy outfit lying around” Hen squints with suspicion.
“I did”
“Hmmm”
“You know what they say” Buck says, as a blush takes over his face momentarily, and then, sort of shying away he goes on “Save a horse, ride a cowboy. Had a couple girlfriends that were into that”
Eddie’s brain stops functioning.
or: Buck changes costumes last minute and Eddie kind of loses his mind about it

Summary
“I don’t know why you’re even here!” Eddie yells, voice just as loud, ringing—echoing in the nothingness of the once-home. “Just go back, okay?!” he adds, volume staying the same, stability rapidly decreasing, his eyes welling up in the moonlight pouring in through the window. “Alright? To her, or him, or both—and I’ll call you from the road, and I’ll say goodbye, and I’ll be back in El Paso, and…” If Eddie has more to say, it’s swallowed by the rapid way in which he’s breathing as he sinks back against the kitchen counter, the anger melting off of Buck’s shoulders as he carefully starts to approach him.

Summary
“You’re going to be a great father someday,” Eddie says eventually, because he’s worse than he used to be and Buck’s reverent eyes make him feel—they just make him feel.
“Eddie, I—”
“You are,” he repeats, firm. “Don’t you think I’d know better than anyone?”

Summary
“You’d fuck me?” Eddie’s heart makes a valiant attempt at jumping straight out of his throat to suffocate him, because what the fuck did he just say? He rushes to add, “I mean, if, uh– if we didn’t know each other? You’d see me at the bar and go, yeah, I’d tap that?”
And the thing is, Steve doesn’t laugh, he just… Looks at Eddie, eyes assessing. And then he says, “I’d tap that now.”
(Or: Steve vs Eddie's virginity.)
