I shouldn’t do a lot of things. I shouldn’t eat chocolate for breakfast. At 6ft I shouldn’t wear high heels. At my age (GenX) I shouldn’t write fan fiction. I certainly shouldn’t write it in a non-native language. I shouldn’t sneak away from my lovely family and two jobs to channel my inner drama queen into stories no one pays me to write.

I shouldn’t do a lot of things.

The good thing about middle age? You care less and less about what other people think you should or shouldn’t do.
