Summary
JJ didn’t like being lost. He didn’t like that feeling of being forgotten. The gnawing crave of wanting to be found. He knew his dad wouldn’t look for him. The drinks made him sleepy, mindless. He had taught himself not to cry, to be strong, that showing emotion was a sign of weakness that would only get you hurt.
He was just happy his dad wasn’t here to witness it. When he cried in front of dad, he would end up with marks across his chest and face. Mean words were shot from his fathers mouth, , hitting him like bullets that pierced his young mind and heart. But despite his best efforts, he could feel them. The tears welling up in the pools of his eyes.
At least they were, until he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder.
The touch is not reminiscent of the usual ones he receives from dad. It felt… welcoming.
“Hey, uh, are you okay?”
And then all his emotions are washed away and he is discovered. Discovered by a beam of light that he has yet to realize would slowly become his saving grace.
