“Are you a zombie?” Niko peers into Edwin’s eyes. “Because the Night Nurse told me zombies exist. Do you hunger for brains, Edwin?”
“Hardly.” Remembering being splattered with gray matter in the not-so-distant past, Edwin shudders. He cannot imagine consuming it. “I’m not a zombie.”
“What about a vampire?” She almost looks excited by the prospect. “We’re only a couple of hours from Forks. It would be perfect!””
When they’re caught during their escape from Hell, Charles and Edwin have no choice but to make a deal: they have one hundred days to find and entrap a powerful, malevolent spirit, or both of their souls are forfeit. But when they’re both temporarily restored to living bodies to aid in their search, being alive brings with it a host of new feelings, which neither of them know how to cope with, especially as their deadline looms closer and their quarry proves increasingly dangerous.

Summary
Charles Rowland never expected to see Crystal Palace again, especially not after their fallout over her abusive ex boyfriend. Their meeting brings them to the doors of the Tea and Kettle, an unassuming little coffee shop well out of Charles’s usual commute to and from Uni. However, inside he doesn’t only reconnect with Crystal, he meets Edwin. Who then saves his life, as his past reappears once again for one last hurrah. Charles cuts her off with a noise of frustration. “I didn’t wish for this. I didn’t ask for anything. That whiskered muppet tricked me.”
Crystal rolls her eyes. “Okay. Fine—the shapeshifting cat god tricked Charles into wishing him and Edwin back to life, and that’s why Charles sounds and acts like a fucking alien.”
Jenny gives her a long, blank look following this explanation. “Oh, so you’re all crazy,” she finally says. “Okay.”

Summary
Even Charles can appreciate the subtleties of the choreography: Fire is boisterous, with great, choppy gestures, Water is in a blue outfit and flows gracefully, Earth stays close to the ground, with sure, stompy movements. It's Air, though, that captivates Charles’s attention: the boy is tall and graceful and pale, and seems to float, his feet barely touching the ground, showcasing astonishing feats of skill and athleticism. He spins and jumps so high, it seems as if he has wings.
