Summary
The palace gardens have not seen chaos like this in years.
Normally quiet, normally peaceful, carefully kept in pristine order for visitors to relax in at their leisure.
Zuko prefers it like this.
Tiny running footfalls, giggling, screaming, as his granddaughters circle around Sokka’s legs in excitement.
Grandpa Sokka is all smiles, kneeling to show them his newest creation, a wind up dragon that you could throw and fly a short distance.
Or: Old man Sokka overdoes it a bit playing with his grandkids, and Zuko takes care of him afterwards.

Summary
Zuko doesn't know why he's getting mad at Sokka, especially when he's missed him so much. More importantly, he doesn't know why he's ruining Sokka's return by defending Azula of all people.
But it's something in him, this frustration — how everyone is allowed to have an opinion on his family except him — that just keeps barreling him forward.
(Six years later, Azula gets discharged, Sokka comes back to the Fire Nation, and the siblings do a rematch.)

Summary
Sokka is convinced his house is haunted. Aang doesn't believe him, Katara thinks he's crazy, and this ghost guy has just the prettiest laugh when Sokka starts talking to him.
Zuko was only trying to scare him a tiny bit, honest. It just...got a little out of control. And then he started joking with him, and muttering adorably when he tripped over things, and what was he meant to do? Just go home again?

Summary
Zuko was probably more involved in the gossip around the palace than he had any right to be.
It’s not his fault, it’s really not. It’s just that sometimes he’s sitting in the kitchens (the best place to get the gossip) drinking tea and trying to relax for once, and some of the kitchen staff will start gossiping where he can still hear them. He doesn’t really try to listen in; it’s not his place and he won’t judge the staff based on whatever rumors are running around, but Spirits is it interesting. He tries not to listen too much, or get too invested in it though. Gossip is gossip after all, and rumors hardly ever turn out to be true.
But Zuko absolutely needs to know if Maya from the laundry room broke up with her piece of shit boyfriend.
Or, 5 times Zuko got invested in/meddled in palace gossip, and 1 time he was the subject of the gossip.

Summary
"You know," Iroh had said, tea cup steaming in front of him. "Some say that everyone has a matching heart, beating perfectly in time with their own. Decided by the Spirits—soulmates, of a kind."
Toph's head whipped around to stare in shock at this strange, wise old man.
"How did you know that?"
Iroh shrugged, a careful nonchalance about him. "Old stories can be found in all sorts of places. Have you found your matching heart, stranger?"
"No." She looked away. "But… I can hear them."
