Summary
"I thought you always cut your own hair, big man," he quips with faux ignorance, preserves the air of almost-irritation at being asked for a favor while simultaneously moving to grab the scissors. "And now you want me to do it?"
"I know it's probably been a while since you cut hair, Doc," Brock retorts lazily, leaving Rusty bristling. Admittedly, he set himself up for that one. "but it's easier when someone else does it. Someone who can actually see the back of your head."
He studies the bodyguard's face in the mirror, beset by the cool steely tones of their bathroom. The blues bring out his eyes.
They're both more than aware that Brock has cut his own hair with ease a million times over, with far cruder implements than a neat pair of scissors, in far less favorable situations than an air-conditioned bathroom in a penthouse suite.
"I have a beard, you know," he mumbles frostily, combing his fingers through still-damp blond hair, feeling an inevitable pang of jealousy at how thick it is. He swears Brock's hairline hasn't receded a tenth of an inch since they met.

Summary
""Well," he starts, pulling himself tiredly into a sitting position, tugging the blanket more securely over his slim shoulders. "of course. Of course they're coming. It's Christmas. Why wouldn't they?"
"I got them presents," Rusty adds, more quietly, as if that were an obvious guarantee that they'd come. For material goods, if nothing else.
Brock sighs as he looks down at him. There's something very pathetic about this whole display — the glasses askew on his nose, the companion alcohol, the unspoken yet painfully obvious hope — yet at the same time, it's oddly compelling. (It's not the first time he's ascribed those words to Doc's antics.)
Sitting down next to him, he grabs the remote and checks the TV guide. A Christmas Carol. Figures."
It's a smaller Christmas without the boys, but it'll do, if Dr. Venture can find it in himself to admit that they aren't coming home. Written for the Venture Bros Secret Santa 2016.

Summary
"He tries to ignore the shortcomings in Doc's parenting, at first. In the beginning, he'd taken it as the understandable failings of a first-time father — an emotionally callous comment here, a forgotten promise there. But soon enough, they begin to pile up, piecing together like a quilt of subtle emotional neglect.
And it's not his job. At all. It's not even remotely his job. Still, when Dean comes out of his room crying about a nightmare and Doc tells him he's busy without even looking up, it itches at him. Despite the distance he'd tried to maintain, Brock genuinely feels bad."
A piece reflecting on Brock and his relationship with the boys over the years.
