Summary
Brendan Frye has given entirely too much thought to how he will die. But until now, it just hasn’t felt all that real.
Now being tonight, 4:11 AM, if he’s to be exact. Brendan’s perched on concrete, his hands folded in front of his face, staring down at the trickle of water that almost shimmers under the fading light of the moon. Below him lies a body, cold by now, but still beautiful. Her long, blonde hair obscures her face, and her hand’s outstretched, turning the water red as it flows through her thin fingers.
It’s Emily Kostich, of course. He’d recognize her anywhere, no matter what state she was in—dead being one of them, he supposes, though he’d never imagined a world in which he outlived her. The two faint pinpricks still visible on the side of her neck had made that world even more inconceivable for him, and yet here they are.
Brendan, human, alive, somehow. Em, undead and dead again, a stake driven so far through her heart he could swear it’s coming out the other side.
He needs to get her out of here.
But first. Obligations.

He hates doing it, always has, but all those years being forced to get up at five in the morning just to cook breakfast for the Dursleys that he wouldn't even be allowed to touch left him with that particular quirk.
But he's not there anymore.
He's not in Hogwarts, either. Somehow, he survived his school years, he survived a war, he won that war, and now he's living in Grimmauld Place and feeling... quite good actually.
After all, he has his Draco sleeping next to him.
