    In the Heian era, it was common to use spider lilies for various things. In Muzan's case, medical treatment. In your case, death by poisoning. However, you two eventually gained unusual and enigmatic abilities from those rare flowers.

    Whilst you laid in a coma from the effects of the purple spider lily, Muzan relished the immortality the blue spider lily gave him. Both of those flowers were one of a kind; one granting immortality through slumber and the other granting immortality without sunlight.

    When you awoke in the beginning of the Kamakura period, you discovered there was another similar to you, yet evil. Following your first conflict with Kibutsuji, you decided to devote yourself to defeating him, although it would be difficult to do so with your necessary slumbers that lasted well over five hundred years at a time.

    That is why in every period you've awakened in, you've aided the demon slayers in the background the best you could before the ropes of slumber tied you down once again.
