Summary
Jingyi thinks it’s slightly rude that when he had his meltdown over Wei-qianbei and Hanguang-jun not being together, the four of them had let it be, opting for a hands-off approach. But somehow, when it comes to Jin Ling’s panic over Jiang-guniang and Jin-gongzi, suddenly Sizhui and Zizhen are ready to get down and dirty with their scheming? It usually takes multiple attempts at bribery for Jingyi to get either of them onboard with anything this convoluted.
Granted, this is Jin Ling’s life. (Which is why it’s only slightly rude).
But, he sees the logic here. Jin-gongzi and Jiang-guniang’s marriage is essential for the future that Jingyi knows and loves. Even though the future is full of tragedy, his home is still his. Also, Jingyi would very much prefer not to lose his friend. He’s invested a lot into making Jin Ling a better person, thank you very much.

Sizhui cannot plaster a smile on his face and act like he doesn’t want to crawl out of his skin at the mere thought of being affiliated with Cloud Recesses — of being a Lan, in all honesty — like he doesn’t want to burn the whole place down. Logically, it’s probably not true, it’s not a reflection of himself, but something about staying here, in this comfort, and maintaining a sense of normalcy feels like consenting to the genocide of his people.

Summary
Jiang Cheng is sort of having a complicated night.
She tilts her chin up, moving to the beat of the track, and her eyes slide over him, top to bottom. The beat goes dirty and buzzing and she has to raise her voice to say, “I don’t do straight guys.”
Someone grinds against him and he looks down at the prettiest girl he’s ever seen and says, stupid with something to prove, “Good thing I’m not straight, then.” He sounds like he’s sure of it, even though he’s not, but his best decisions have always been forced out of him by people bolder than he is.
