Summary
When a person turns eighteen, the words that their soulmate will first say to them appear on their skin, the handwriting of the latter in permanent ink.
Arthur doesn't exactly ignore the sentence etched onto him, but goes through life as usual, occasionally wondering if it'll happen to him. Then he and Dom fall into extraction, a business they never meant to be involved in, and meet those around the world who would change the course of everything. Including someone Arthur never thought he'd want anything to do with.

Summary
Lestat waits for Louis to continue, and when he hears nothing more, realisation starts to hit.
He looks at Louis’ feet, the back of his ankles pressed against Lestat’s thigh, and places his hand on Louis’ leg, runs it down until it wraps around Louis’ ankle, gently pressing over the flesh, the pads of his fingers stroking the skin.
“Louis,” Lestat says, quietly. “You still have them.”
Or: Louis and Lestat talk about the rocks.

Summary
“Mind your tongue, beloved,” Armand warns in his most sticky sweet, honeyed voice. “I used to take great care in putting insolent brats like you in their place.”
“Yeah? Well…” Daniel leans back and spreads his legs further, an invitation, preening under Armand’s gaze as the vampire drinks him in. He looks up beneath dark eyelashes and flashes his most provocative smile, never breaking eye contact. “They weren't me, were they?”

Summary
“Finish it,” Armand says abruptly, reaching out to touch the bottom of the glass. He tilts it up to Daniel’s lips, the words an imperious command.
Daniel barely opens his mouth in time. He chokes on what’s left of the watery crème de menthe and crème de cacao, but Armand doesn’t lower the glass until he’s finished every last drop. His head swims, partly because he’s tipsy and partly because of the brain freeze.
Armand withdraws the empty glass, sets it aside, and grabs a napkin off the bar. He dabs Daniel’s lips with it, brushing the bare pad of his thumb across Daniel’s chin. His skin is warm and smooth, slightly clammy with condensation borrowed from the glass.
Oh my God, Daniel thinks. Don’t lick him don’t lick him don’t lick—
Clearing his throat, Armand sets the napkin aside. “You’re a journalist?”
“Yeah,” Daniel replies hastily, looking away. “You were listening in?”
“I caught part of your chat with Louis. You were going to interview him?”
“Was being the operative word. I’m not sure that would’ve worked out.”

Summary
“What happened to your assessment of him as my rent boy? Hypocritical of you to…indulge in him after casting it as an aspersion.”
Daniel inhales, instantly prepared to use words, words, words to help Rashid save face and also save his own ass because that’s his fucking forté. “My mistake. Your semi-estranged companion and extremely astute business partner used me as a glorified sex toy last night, and it turns out I hardcore needed to be objectified. I doubt this will come as a shock, but that worked wonders for my aging, ailing ego. I, uh…” He shoots a deferential sidelong glance at Rashid, who’s giving him a guarded look. “Wouldn’t mind if it happened again, but that’s at his discretion.”
Louis gives Rashid a look that sits somewhere at the crossroads of amusement, bafflement, and contempt. Razor-edged panic flares in Daniel’s stomach; he has no idea why such a specific cocktail of emotion should get to him when it’s aimed straight past him at someone else.
“Let me have this, Louis,” Rashid says with quiet urgency, his grasp on Daniel’s shoulder tightening. “He’ll be gone soon enough as it is.”

Summary
In the middle of the courtyard, crushing the green grass under its weight, was a stone tomb, covered in chains. Taking Claudia by the arm, Armand pulled her back, ignoring the indigent glare she gave him, before closing the short distance between himself and the coffin. He circled the stone, tracing his hand over the old, rough surface as his eyes followed the rusted chains. He glanced down at the lock where a folded paper was tucked beneath the oil-stained metal. He plucked the paper and unfolded it, scanning over the words before reading them aloud to the others.
“We have made a grave mistake,” Armand said. “We are not able to care for this fledgling. He will ruin us all,” Armand tore the note in half and tossed it over his shoulder.
