The first time Alina goes into the Fold and comes out as the Sun Summoner, she dies. The Druskelle succeed in ambushing the entourage and killing her on the way to the Little Palace. Then she wakes up in the barracks again, the morning of the crossing. There's Alexei on his cot, totally fine. No one is looking at her or for her... no one knows she is the Sun Summoner. She is free again.
But she knows what's going to happen and she can't let her friends die. With one endless day that she can't escape, Alina's goals grow and grow, until she wants nothing less than to discover the Darkling's secrets, change the timeline, and save Ravka. All in a day's work. -
