Summary
With Thorin dying on the peak of Ravenhill, the two lament their lost chances to truly express their feelings for one another in the end. However, Thranduil arrives and offers a deal that Bilbo is unable to refuse. To heal Thorin, the two will have their souls bound together for the rest of time; when one of them shall die, so shall the other.
Well, if the ritual works, that is.

If, however, you’d told him that outside of the store and the aforementioned nerd, the most important phenomena in his daily life would be struggling with romantic feelings for a guy? And not just any guy–the one, the only, the Californian hurricane, Billy Hargrove? You’d have more than piqued his attention.

Tauriel is a good friend and helps him think through the pros and cons of staying in Erebor, until, finally he comes to his decision. Also, Dwarves are odd when it comes to age differences between the races and Bilbo has had it up to here with their coddling!

“I—what? Simon & Garfunkel is my favorite band. I like The Smiths if I’m in a bit of a strop, Bowie if I’m feeling adventurous, I suppose,” Bilbo answers, aware there might be a note of snark coloring his words because, well. He was set up, meant to sound like a fool no matter how he answered, and he does not appreciate rude conversational traps like that. He does not appreciate anything about this situation. He does not appreciate the small, crooked, tight-lipped smile that flashes across Thorin’s face at his response, and he does not appreciate the way it makes his stomach drop.

After his eccentric advisor deliberately botches Bilbo's housing application, he is forced to sublet a room with thirteen metal heads living in a condemned frat. He barely expects to survive the journey, let alone fall in love.
