“Break up?” Chan’s voice gets higher pitched, almost hysterical with each word he says. Felix doesn’t understand why Chan looks like this is brand new information to him. “I don’t understand, Felix, help me understand, please, how could we break up if we’re not dating?”
or: Felix is happy when his best friend and roommate Chan seems to return the feelings Felix has had for him for years and assumes they're dating. Chan is a little slower getting with the program, and then it turns out they're watching two different channels.
