Without waiting for her to respond he ended the call, the beep of the watch echoing in the deathly quiet of the training room. Gwen shot to her feet. Calm down Gwen, play it cool. This is fine, just ask if you can go. Be so normal about it, there’s no reason not to be normal about it.

“Gwen–”
“I can go.” It tore out of her, quick and sharp. So much for playing it cool.

Perry, with his little book of jokes he used to carry around everywhere, Odalia, arms crossed and her eyes narrowed, Darius and Alador, god the two had been more inseparable than her and Raine and- her heart stuttered for a beat - Raine, their eyes wide, a huge grin cracked across their face, and Lily, oh Lily- We used to be so sure we could make a change for the better, oh Titan how did we get here.
She ached for the misplaced optimism that Luz and her friends carried so easily. She had forgotten that they had been like that once, not yet disillusioned by the ways of the world.
Eda squeezed her eyes shut, and when she opened them only Lilith and Raine remained, looking at her like the world was ending.
Which you know, maybe it was.

“Munson, you don’t need to apologize. You’ve had probably the worst three consecutive days in human history.” He rested a hand on Eddie’s shoulder, squeezing gently and flushing red when the other boy turned his head, eyebrow cocked. He swooned dramatically, pressing the back of his hand against his forehead, fluttering his eyes at Steve. “Oh fair King, I could never accept such kind words from the likes of you, I’m just a simple freak after all.”
It was jarring how quickly Munson could slip into a persona, all wide eyes and white teeth, leering into Steve’s space. A laugh bubbled out of him and he shoved Eddie, sending the boy back a few paces. “You’re something else man.” But Eddie was smiling, the tinge of fear gone from his eyes, and Steve took that as a win.

Steve didn’t know why he was so fascinated with Eddie Munson, but he wasn’t going to let himself think too hard about it.

Summary
Half a decade after Viktor leaves Piltover for good, a fragment of Hexcore permanently adhered to his soul, an old friend comes to him for help. This wouldn't be an issue, if the same old friend hadn't spent the last five years trying to hit him, very hard, with a really big hammer.
“You’re not real,” Viktor repeated, closing his eyes. Even with the knowledge that this was a dream, the gentle touch unraveled him. There was an impact crater where his heart should be.
The calloused pad of Jayce's thumb found the corner of Viktor’s mouth. “All right. I’ll bite – what’s your evidence for this hypothesis?”
