“Knitting!” she chirped. “It helps me take my mind of things sometimes, and it’s fun! Wanna join me?”
“Oh, um…” Ford said, stumbling over his words, as hr request had caught him off guard. “I don’t know how.”
“C’mon! I’ll teach you!” Mabel said, cheerily, grabbing his hand and yanking him into the living room.
Ford wanted to object. To make an excuse and return to his lab, but he found himself following her as she handed him a ball of yarn and a pair of knitting needles. He supposed that he did need a distraction, and the moment presented an excellent opportunity for him to connect with Mabel.
“Ready?” she asked.
“Teach away, kid.”
...
When Ford's nightmares become too much, Mabel decides to step in and help her Grunkle out. ( a lil epilogue of sea grunkles)

Summary
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken objects of sentimental or monetary value, using a lacquer made of tree sap that's often dusted with gold. This strengthens and adds value to the object, as well as maintaining it's functionality. Kintsugi is a metaphor for healing and resilience. While the past cannot be rewritten and change is inevitable, the future is in our hands.
