“You knew him?” Alberu’s tone unconsciously softened, knowing from experience that Cale didn’t exactly like talking about his past.
“Yes.” Cale smiled softly and Alberu was, for some reason, suddenly insanely jealous of the fact that it was this historic crown prince that was able to put such an expression on Cale’s face and not him instead. He blinked that emotion away, deciding to ponder upon it later.
“What was he like?”
“He was a lot like you, actually.” Cale grinned impishly.
“And you know this because?”
“Because he was my first contractor, the only one I’ve ever had before you.”
Cale's smile was heartbreaking.

The figure startled and let go of the ledge with a jolt, and before Liu Qingge could think, he had already jumped forward and caught it in one hand. It fell onto his palm and let out a soft oomph.
The tiny figure clutched his thumb and straightened itself, before fiddling with its belt for a second and taking out an equally small fan, snapping it open in order to hide its face. Its green eyes hesitantly peeked up at Liu Qingge, the tips of its ears blushing bright red when Liu Qingge stared at it in rapt fascination.
"... yes." it hesitantly whispered, slowly lowering its fan by a tiny fraction.
"What." Liu Qingge intoned flatly.
