Bertholdt had never been so hyper-aware of anyone before, of anything. Most of the time, he tried hard to melt into the background and block out the world beyond his playlists and immediate friends and family. Not that he had many of either, so his list of “things to care about” was pretty short.
But somehow, Reiner Braun — unapologetically loud, eye-catching, kind-hearted, strong, attractive Reiner Braun — had taken the top spot.
And Bertholdt’s response?
Sew. A lot.

“I want you to live a long life, Reiner,” Bertholdt says quietly, hand delicately running through blonde fringe. “Be healthy, grow old, be happy. Promise, okay?”
Of course, Reiner doesn’t so much as twitch, still in a deep slumber. Bertholdt’s kind of glad, since he doesn't dare to pour his heart out when the other is awake.
“I don’t care if you never look my way again, if it means you’ll be happy. I don’t need anything other than that.”

Bertholdt thinks he’s no longer Reiner’s best friend and tries his hardest to accept that. He is not succeeding.
Reiner hopelessly pines after his best friend in the whole damn world and tries to keep it on the down low. He is not succeeding.

“Look, I didn’t know that you were, like, a pro at it!” Sokka cried, still clutching Zuko close to his chest in a hug. “You can’t just expect me to see you leap off the curb, do a freaking backflip, and roll onto the sidewalk without thinking that you had broken like every bone in your body!”
“I told you that I did b-boying,” Zuko replied, disgruntled voice muffled by Sokka’s chest. “What else did you think I meant?”
“I don’t know! I thought it was like, book-boying? Like the rest of your nerd aesthetic! How was I supposed to know that you were secretly doing one-armed handstands and battling it out on the streets?"
“What does that even mean,” Zuko grumbled.

Summary
“Little” Mac Ferrante had a fairly short career as a boxer; during said career, it is well known that he was accompanied often by his trainer, Doc Louis.
But for most of his career, Doc wasn’t alone. A red and black cat could often be seen alongside the boxer during training sessions, often helping him prepare for future fights. Then, after one fight, the cat just disappeared. Mac never saw him again.
A couple years later, Mac gets invited to a multiversal fighting tournament.
One of the fighters is familiar to him.
