Wyll stood in the cool squalor of night, nursing a sad goblet of the tiefling refugees’ best wine as he stewed in his own misery.
Just days ago, he had been nestled among them, teaching their children the necessary tools of defense. In the days after the mind flayers had forced an Illithid tadpole into his eye, Wyll found himself scrambling for purpose — to find a way to prove himself useful despite the horror that had chased him.
