Summary
Charles has a maths test tomorrow morning.
Which is why he’s in his boyfriend’s room on a Thursday evening, two days before the holidays, with said boyfriend looking dead fit in his neat but cozy-looking jumper. And Charles should currently be snogging him into oblivion, but what is he doing instead?
He’s studying up on functions.
(In which there is studying, kissing, gifts, and more kissing.)

Summary
Edwin isn’t even thinking when he presses the pad of his thumb down on the soft, wet surface of Charles’s tongue. Or, well—he is thinking, but only about how he needs Charles’s tongue to stop moving so he can better examine his molars for fungal remains. What ends up happening, though, is that Charles makes the loveliest, breathiest little noise, and Edwin becomes suddenly, intimately aware of how—well, intimate this all is.
—
After the conclusion of a case involving a particularly insidious variety of ghost fungus, the possibility of Charles having been infected sends Edwin into an investigative frenzy—and leads to a series of rather exhilarating (if inappropriately-timed) revelations for the two detectives.

Summary
“Edwin!” Charles’s head pops through the wall, smiling broadly. “It snowed!”
It’s only the years of training himself not to display untoward emotions—and that was before Hell—that stops Edwin from showing his unabashed relief. “It’s December, Charles. It does that.”
Was that too acerbic? Possibly. Before Edwin can apologize, Charles laughs, like he finds Edwin and his sharp tongue delightful. He has a tendency to do that. No one ever has ever laughed at Edwin like that before Charles, like he’s simply happy to be in Edwin’s presence, without a trace of cruelty. Edwin wonders if one of those rocks those hideous boys threw at Charles hit him in the head and if such injuries ever follow one into death.
“No, it’s proper snow, mate,” Charles says. “Come see!”
In the days before they leave St. Hilarion's and set out to start the Dead Boy Detective Agency, Edwin and Charles are just two boys playing in the snow.

Summary
One of Crystal’s favorite and least favorite things about Edwin was that he never seemed to be dissuaded by her poor attitude. Sometimes, it even seemed to encourage him. “If you had actually tried, you would have cast the spell,” Edwin said. There was no heat to his voice, not even an ounce of actual anger to him– even though Crystal was sure he was pissed.
