It starts exactly like this:
“You look stupid,” and he holds his hand out. In his grasp is his favourite handkerchief, checkered green and yellow, embroidered with his initials.
Miya Atsumu’s face twists into a sour expression. It looks marginally less threatening, partly due to the tear tracks that run down his flushed cheeks.
“Hah? Are ya tryin’ to pick a fight?”
Kiyoomi, Atsumu, and growing in love throughout the years.

Summary
Atsumu grasps at his gym bag, as if it were the only thing grounding him to reality. He feels it shake in the beat of his stuttering heart, pathetic and wretched, cracking in the exact same spots it did all those years ago.
Because there before him stood Sakusa Kiyoomi, bearing the golden crest of the Jackals four years too late.
Sakusa Kiyoomi, four years older than the boy who left him with nothing more than a shaky "I"m sorry" while Atsumu was on one knee, before he fucked off out of Atsumu"s life like he wasn"t really sorry.

It"s quiet after Osamu"s whisper. Atsumu is still. The air hangs in thick tension, the quiet stretching for long seconds with only their breathing to counter the discomfort.
And then, a laugh so violent rips out of Atsumu"s throat with such aggression that he slams his forehead on the bunkbed frame.
