Toge arched an eyebrow, “Hmm. And what happens to those who don’t?”
Yuuta leaned back slightly, pretending to consider the question. “Well... I could have you beheaded or exiled, but that might be a bit extreme, don’t you think?”
“If this conversation lasts any longer, I don’t think I’d be opposed.” He let out a quiet sigh, turning away ready to leave before Yuuta could speak again. “Anyways, I was just leaving. Farewell.” His tone was brisk as he took a step toward the exit.
“W-wait,” Yuuta called, his voice soft but insistent. Toge’s feet locked in place before he could stop them. Despite the urge to leave, he couldn’t. “What’s your name?” Yuuta asked.
“Toge Inumaki.”

Toge nodded, then hesitated, finally making a so-so gesture with his hand before typing out another message. 'Sorry, I sort of ran you over.'
“Oh.” Yuuta blinked, processing that, when Toge’s voice—a soft, whisper-like sound—came out:
“Sorry.”
Yuuta’s eyes widened at the unexpected, beautiful voice. He managed a smile, even through the pain.
“It’s alright,” he said softly.

The siren turned it over in his hands, his fingers tracing over the engraving on the handle.“I could kill you with this,” he remarked, taking it and tracing the engraved name on the handle. “Yuuta Okkotsu.”
“That’s up to you,” Yuuta replied, a heavy feeling settling in his chest as he waited for a response.
After a pause, the siren slipped the knife into his pocket and turned back to the window. “Toge of Inkumaki,” he said at last.

Toge froze mid-movement, his eyes drifted across to Maki, who was cutting into her steak—her almost $200 steak. He’d told her to order the most extravagant thing since the meal was on him, or rather, on his dad’s card.
Now, Toge was staring at the card, as if sheer will could magically transfer the hundreds of dollars he needed into his account.
'Can you ask her to try again?' he signed toward Maki.
She sighed, setting her utensils down before passing the message to the waitress, who was teetering on the edge of irritation.
“I’ve already tried. Three times, actually,” she replied, placing the useless piece of plastic in front of him.
