My fic for the Hijikata Birthday Bash prompts! I couldn't help but imagine the prompts as a progression on a timeline, so I decided to make each prompt a chapter in a single fic.
Over the course of five months, Gintoki and Hijikata's relationship changes significantly. From a cold night in January to a sunny afternoon in May, slowly opening up to one another changes their dynamic. They work past a lot of their issues, but even so things don't always go to plan and the people they surround themselves with are far too chaotic for them to have ever expected a quiet life anyway.

Kondo has a date for Christmas (“What?!”) and so does Hijikata (“No, I don't!”). Sougo wants the day off too. Yamazaki feels like a single loser and it's only going to get worse for him from here.
(I am fascinated by how Christmas is celebrated in Japan. My top three favourite things are 1. how it's seen as a romantic holiday 2. the illuminations at Shinjuku station 3. KFC for Christmas is like a “thing.” I combined those three favourite things in this story, enjoy!)

It was, he justifies, practically a life or death situation. It's entirely understandable that in the face of the mission stakes, he threw his whole self into it. Really into it. For the sake of believability, that's all. Life or death. Yeah.
And now, whenever death does find him, he'll go down knowing exactly what Keith's lips feel like against his; what Keith's tongue tastes like; the grip of Keith's hands on his body; the hardness of Keith's hips when Lance presses against them. Never in a million years did he think he'd ever know such things, but now he's never going to be able to un-know them. Hell, he can almost still feel the heat of Keith's hand through the fabric of these shitty uniform pants.
He almost wishes he could un-know it all, because then maybe he could forget how much he liked it.
Maybe he could even convince himself that he doesn't sort of want to do it again.

Luffy doesn't want to risk Sanji getting kidnapped by his biological family again, so he makes sure that Sanji is married. The problem is... Sanji doesn't know to who and when Robin declares him the entire crew's wife, Sanji doesn't know whether to be happy about being married to the ladies, or terrified by being married to the guys. It turns out, he only had to worry about one of them. Eventually, Sanji has to admit, however, Zoro makes a very good husband.Series

Left with only three other crew mates, it’s a ready expectation that Sanji will start fawning all over Robin in his usual obnoxious way. However, that’s not what happens. Instead, looking wild around the eyes in a way only someone who knows him well would recognize, the cook doesn’t break stride until he’s firmly within Zoro’s orbit and can wrap both hands around his upper arm, clinging tight.
“Hi, darling,” he chirps, his expression desperately conveying that Zoro needs to play along under pain of death. “Did you miss me?”
