“You want this?” you ask her after you break apart for some air, Moonbyul slow to release your bottom lip from between her teeth. She nods at you and you grip her hand still on your waist until your fingers entwine. When the two of you go outside, you sigh with the way the cold air kisses the heat of your skin. She tugs you towards a taxi and you pull your phone from your pocket before quickly texting Wheein that you two are leaving.
The text from your friend comes a second after they get into the taxi and Moonbyul gives the driver her address.
Hope you know what you’re doing, is all it says. She leaves Wheein on read.

"You're late." Lena looks away, wheeling her office stool towards some metal drawers, one foot atop the casters, the other planted on the concrete floor, controlling her speed.
Her visitor huffs before striding towards the only other seating in her office, a metal folding chair with paint chipping off, and sitting on it backwards so her front pressed up against the backing of the seat. "I got held up."
"You're always held up," she retorts, the very same words echoing what she'd said when her visitor had shown up in her office for the first time, a gash across her face before Lena patched her up.
"Blame the war. Otherwise, I'd be here on time."

Summary
Kara knew a thing or two about loss. She knew it intimately. Slept beside it like a distant lover, a thin pillow between them.
So she knew that when she watched from her place beside Lena as her best friend got married to Jack, it almost felt like being embraced by loss all over again. She tucked her head down, covered her face daintily as if her happiness for the now wedded couple was so overwhelming she had to swallow it back in.

Kaoruko leans forward, assessing Maya's words, before resting her weight on her elbows. "By all means."

“It doesn’t matter. Want to know why?” Aaliyah points at her, her voice hissing as she steps into her space, hostility rippling in the lines of her brow.
She pushes at Cruz’s chest repeatedly, her words in sync with every movement. “I don’t—" shove, “want you—" shove, “anymore,” shove.
Cruz takes her hits. She is solid, absorbing it all without budging. Her resoluteness breaks Aaliyah open like a dam, and everything she’s been holding back comes pouring out in tears. Her palms continue to connect with Cruz’s body, desperately trying to push it all back in.
“I don’t want you,” she spits out all at once, her eyes blazing. Cruz isn’t sure, at this point, which one of them she is trying to convince.
Cruz grabs her wrists the next time they fly toward her chest. She steps into the puddle Aaliyah’s hair has dripped onto the tiles, easing her until her back hits the counter of the sink. She guides her arms down and settles her wrists against the granite, feeling them tremble beneath her fingers.
“No? Then why are you so upset?”
OR
Years later, Cruz tracks Aaliyah down, only to find that she has moved on to someone else. Angst, tears, more tears, a triangle, and all the feelings ensue.
