Powder steps over a puddle, glancing down at the shimmery reflection of herself. In her own face, she sees exactly how she feels; a scared girl, grown up faster than she was ever a child, still forever grieving a loss so overwhelming it has shaped the very essence of her being, driven her to strange lands chasing what might just be a fairytale, too good to be true, forever out of her reach.
Then, her reflection glitches, and Powder flinches away from the puddle as bright violet eyes stare right back at her with a sorrow so deep it pierces right through her like a knife, only disappearing when she kicks at the water and shoves right past it. No time for reflections; she has family to find.

Powder’s life is pretty good. She’s got a boyfriend she kinda really likes, a dad (maybe two?) who loves her a lot, and two dork-ass brothers to rag on all the time. She’s sure the time-looper she and Ekko invented will win first prize at the Innovators Competition. And she might, finally, get what everyone’s been saying about getting out into the world and using her potential.
Then, her dead sister shows up at her door.

She only just notices that red-headed officer that clung to Caitlyn like a parasite strewn in a lifeless heap. But she can’t focus on that now. On the implications of it. Summary
Caitlyn extracts her hand from Vi’s hair to caress her face, waiting for Vi’s eyes to connect with hers. She moves closer, lips parted, and there’s a moment of warm, shared breaths before they’re kissing. Gently, fully, less frantic than their collision in that prison cell but hungrier than the chaste, careful exchanges they have shared up to now. Vi loosens her fingers from Caitlyn’s so she can use both hands to cup Caitlyn’s face, pressing lingering, damp kisses to her mouth. Caitlyn feels it like warm water from her scalp to her toes, making her aware of Vi’s saliva on her bottom lip and the oil on the surface of her skin.
“You deserve to be happy, Violet.” Caitlyn whispers into the heated air between them as they part. Vi responds by pressing her mouth to the underside of Caitlyn’s jaw.
