They tear up fast when they're emotional, they smile and squeal with joy mid-conversation, they say whatever is on their mind once you can dig below the hard exterior.

"Robin."
Robin knows that voice.
Steve Harrington is standing about 30 feet away from her, wide-eyed and looking like he's maybe going to pass out, and holy fuck she’s going to start crying. She’s really held it together but Steve is here. And she’s pretty sure it’s actually him.
Robin stands upright, legs a little shaky and Steve seems to reset. Before Robin can even figure out what to process first, Steve is running."Careful!" She hears Hopper yell as Steve grabs her by the waist and pulls her close. Robin finds all the remaining strength she has to literally jump into his arms and bury her face in his shoulder.
"Jesus, you're here," Steve breathes. He holds her like if he lets go, she’s going to slide right back into the lake, right into Watergate. She tries to hold on just as tight.
”I’m here,” she finally sobs. "I'm, oh my god, I'm so happy to see you."

Summary
Steve, Dustin, Max, Will, Mike, Lucas, El, and Jonathan are on their feet and everyone around them is glaring at them and it doesn't even seem like they notice. Steve beams at Robin, I'm so fucking proud of you. Robin feels her eyes start to water. You made getting this so much harder and so much easier, I love you.
When Robin turns to the audience, she sees Nancy Wheeler giving her the most genuine smile she's ever seen her give from the back of the room. Robin winks back at her before turning back to the principal and taking her diploma.
She starts back toward her seat before stopping and turning to the bleachers. Steve is looking at her with the widest smile she's ever seen and Robin is graduated so what are they going to do to her if she breaks the rules? She runs up to section C row 18 and practically jumps into Steve's arms. He catches her easily and does her the courtesy of not saying anything as she cries, like it just hit her that she survived.

There's a small, younger version of Faith that senses this might be a trap and she feels that urge again to run. But Buffy's expression does not seem to be towing that line between love and hate at all. Sure, there's a barely concealed eye roll when Faith doesn't move toward the bed, but Buffy is also looking at her with concern. Faith feels, for the first time, the freedom of someone being mad at her and knowing they're not going to hurt her. She feels the freedom of being frustrated with someone and not wanting to hurt them. So Faith drops her shoulders, unclenches her fists, and walks over to the bed.

Summary
Beth isn't a saint. The squad is tough on the fetuses, she still tortures Tacy here and there, and she ignores Addy, but she realizes she can use her powers for good, and that she and her friends feel infinitely higher amounts of loyalty to each other when there isn't a secret hanging over their heads.
Something still happens when Queen B is around, but the things that happen tend to be fun. More time by the factory, just Beth, RiRi, Brianna, and Cori. More parties that don't end with guns or...worse. More time together after practice. Less lying. Less secrets. Less games.
And Jennifer is proud of her when she finally does these things. Realizes these things. Beth laughs to herself toward the end of one of her sessions and Jennifer looks up from writing.
"What is it?" She asks.
"Who would've thought I'd get here," Beth says, half to herself, but she notices Jennifer lean forward and give her a sincere smile.
"Beth, I never doubted it for a second."

I started all three of these before Season 4 Vol. 2 because I have to be ready for all scenarios, and then just figured we can revel in the scenarios together. Inspired by my love of Stranger Things, great music of the 60s-90s, and growing from the hard stuff.

Summary
Alicent is resigned to the fact that there are so many things she’ll never be able to tell Rhaenyra. That she’s so sorry, that she knows she ruined Rhaenyra’s life, that she shoulders that blame.
That she loves Rhaenyra more than she’s ever loved anyone in the world and this is something, perhaps the only thing about her, that wasn’t changed or taken away by what happened to her when she was fifteen.
But she will never tell Rhaenyra these things because she’s terrified of the response, the inevitable rejection. Instead, she will take what she can get from their renewed friendship and deal with the rot inside of her the same way she always has: alone.
