It's like a movie, rewinding all the way to the beginning, just before the last frame appears on the screen. Sanji just watches; he enjoys the silent presence of his friends.
Allowing himself any other thought is dangerous. Letting others talk to him is dangerous. Being aware of the world around him is dangerous.
Those are the things that can bring him back to the brutal reality. His idle state allows him to drift off peacefully and stay there.
So he lets himself play his movie once again.
