Summary
A slice-of-life detailing snippets of recovery for a certain Bucky Barnes, aided by those who love and cherish him. Bucky hasn't been outside Steve's apartment since he was released by SHIELD and deemed 'safe'. He doesn't feel very safe. How could he possibly go outside, when that would mean the sun on his skin, fresh air in his lungs and anything but keeping himself locked away? He already doesn't deserve the love Steve has for him, or the sweetness of oatmeal-raisin cookies with too much sugar in them, or the softness each morning seems to bring. Except, maybe. Maybe he might possibly perhaps be allowed to let himself enjoy and appreciate things. Maybe he might possibly perhaps be allowed and even encouraged to do nice things for himself. Maybe he might possibly perhaps be deserving of love.

Summary
After James’ rescue in 1991, he felt like he’d built a pretty good, if slightly lonely, life for himself. He had a beautiful cabin in the woods, his cats for company, and his woodworking and knitting to keep him busy. One day though, he gets a phone call that could change everything.
When Steve woke to an unexpected and shocking future, he was at a loss for what to do with himself. There were no more wars to fight, and no home to go back to. He struggled to figure out who he is in this new world; until he finds that maybe he didn’t lose as much as he first thought.

The boy lets out a giggle and separates a bit from his sister. A ghost of a smile appears in Bucky’s face. “Wanna hold it?”Steve squeezed Bucky’s shoulders gently, not flinching when the metal one didn’t move. Steve smiled warmly at Bucky, his eyes watery and his chest clenched with love towards the brunette in front of him.
“I’m so proud of you.”Or the one in which Bucky talks to children in a grocery store while Steve observes his boyfriend from afar.
