Olivia never wakes screaming. It’s something she’s grateful for, with Noah just across the hall, but she has to wonder if some of it is psychosomatic, as well. She couldn’t scream, back then. Not with tape over her mouth.

He should have known that trying to retest for his firearms qualification so soon after failing the last time was a bad idea. He can still hear Morgan’s voice in his head, though, derisive— “We’re all here for you, kid”— and even though he knows it was meant as a joke, he feels his face burn with latent embarrassment at the memory of the whistle around his neck.
__Set in early s1. Reid’s attempt to pass his firearms certification with a hostile instructor goes sideways, and he’s not sure who to turn to in the aftermath.

“Do you trust me?” Joel had asked, just hours ago, and Ellie, fear and adrenaline coursing twin pathways through her veins, had been terrified to discover that the answer was yes.
But it turned out that it didn’t matter, really, if she trusted him. In a way, it made things worse. Because she had looked to him in that moment like he could solve any problem, find a path out of any trouble— that minuscule jerk of her head had sealed her fate.
There were things that he couldn’t protect her from. And promises? Promises didn’t mean anything, anymore.

“You… don’t like it when I touch your mouth?” It comes out slowly, both like a question and like a statement, and Steve is shaking his head violently before Eddie has even finished speaking, because if they go down this road, if Eddie pulls and unravels and sees him– the frayed, jagged edges of him– he’ll leave. Steve is sure of it.
“No! That’s not it. That’s totally not– I can be into it. I promise.” Steve can feel twin flames of disgust and shame coil in the pit of his stomach, at the fact that he’s practically begging Eddie to do this to him, to make him like it, the fact that he wants.

or: Billy and Steve had… something. Steve’s not quite sure what it was, doesn’t know if he ever really agreed to it. And then the Mind Flayer happened and Billy died and Steve got beat up by Russians and the mall burned down. And Eddie showed up, all flashing smiles and sure hands, and Steve can’t take his eyes off of him. There’s just that pesky, niggling possibility that maybe everything with Billy fucked him up more than he’s ever willing to admit.

Summary
A long, long time ago in a galaxy far-- no, sorry, wrong fandom. Wolfling and I did write a lot together, and this was one of them. An epic tale of Xander and his crappy childhood, and how Giles rescued him, and how Xander and Spike fell in love (well, sex, and then love or something like insanity?) We were short on research and long on pain, but the series has long been enjoyed by fans so it can't be too horribly embarrassing? I'm not re-reading it as I go, because that way lies madness and also editing, which would mean this wouldn't get posted for another five years.
We began writing this over 13 years ago! Maybe in another 13 years I will post our Qui-Gon/Obi series.

Homecoming AU.
Ben and May divorced before Peter’s parents died, so when Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.
So he leaves.
Simple.
Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help. Peter isn’t about to turn down an opportunity to fight alongside Tony Freaking Stark, but he also isn’t going to let his hero know that his recruit is a fifteen-year-old homeless dropout. So they strike a deal. Peter will help Tony. In return, the mask stays on.
And that’s when things get complicated.
