Summary
The sound of Rengoku Kyojurou falling was something that Giyuu would never forget. Summary
The girl wasn't afraid but she had not been given permission to speak so she said nothing. The man tilted his head to the side, smile fading to a confused pout.
"Aren't you going to scream?" he asked.
The girl said and did nothing.
His hand tightened around her throat, strong enough it cut off her breath. She did nothing, even when her vision began to blacken as her lungs struggled and twisted from the lack of air. After a moment his hand relaxed and she took a breath, but made no attempt to push away from him or fight his grip.
"That's strange," the man said, "Are you really not afraid?"
She blinked but did not respond. His hand loosened around her throat until he was pressing his bloody index finger against her neck, sensing her pulse. It was as steady and calm as it had ever been since that day she became empty and hollow.
"Well, aren't you interesting. I think I'll keep you," the man decided.

“Kaname Madoka, do you value your own life?” She asked, her cold tone sending a shiver down Madoka's spine.
“O-of course I do! My life, and everyone in it.” Madoka responded, coming a little closer to Akemi to stop her pitiful limp across the room.
“Then you must never pilot an Eva,” Akemi broke in sternly. “If you do, you’ll die. The life you hold dear will be ripped from you in an instant. Do you want that to happen, Kaname Madoka?”
“Of course I don’t!” Madoka replied. "B-but still… What if one day, you’re hurt so badly that you can’t be a pilot anymore? If there’s no-one else around, then-”
“That won’t happen.” Akemi said, with more certainty than Madoka could attribute to mere overconfidence. “So promise me, Kaname Madoka. Promise me you will never get inside one of those things, not for as long as you live.”
Madoka stared at the bleeding body of the girl before her. Bruises were already starting to bloom across almost every inch of exposed skin, and Akemi-san, despite her confident voice and level words, had started to wobble on her feet.
“I promise.” Madoka said. Akemi-san looked at the ground.
“Good. That is the right choice, Kaname Madoka.”
