Tooru stretched his legs out in front of him, as if Iwaizumi was sitting across from him, close enough to jab at with his foot--as if Iwaizumi was there, even though he wasn’t. “Have you ever said anything nice about me in your life?”
“If I did, I didn’t mean it. Look,” Iwazumi started again, then paused. Tooru waited. Iwaizumi went perfectly still when he was deciding something important--the half second when his arms drew back for a jump, the half second when Tooru’s set hung, dead-on, in the palm of his hand. “I’ve watched you play. It’s one of the best things in the world. The only thing better is standing there on the court next to you."
Oikawa keeps playing. Iwaizumi doesn’t. Ushijima does.

Boothill almost mourns the loss of contact as the other man stands. “My compliments are genuine! And not at all reserved to your augmentations. I am compelled to believe I would find you quite lovely regardless. There is a certain… allure to you.” He snaps his fingers, as if in dawning thought. “Much like Westerns.”
Boothill rolls his eyes with a sigh, collapsing back into the pillows.

She remembers her mother’s smile when she first wore that new school uniform, Bucky’s cheerful clucks around her classmates and Yuko at her door, a pair of ragged shoes dangling from her fingers.
When Asa speaks again, she hopes her voice doesn’t break like the cracks webbing through her heart.
“Doesn’t it make you wanna give up?”
The aquarium date is imperfectly perfect, in a messed up devil-infested way of course.
