Nile doesn’t think she’s helping, actually, but she keeps that one to herself.

Summary
Medicine had changed so much in their very long lives - machines that could photograph the body with veins lit like highways at night, hearts and pancreas and kidneys grown in labs, therapies to ease pain and nightmares and allergies of all things. It seemed both unfair and fitting that in the end it was morphine that kept the pain at bay, and she'd cracked jokes about laudanum and the terrible suspenders Nicky had worn that time in China while Booker tied the tourniquet and prodded for a vein.

Summary
Across the table, Nile’s grin is cheshire cat-wide, eyes gin-bright in the golden light. “Hey Nicky,” she says, triumph on her words like hot fudge on a sundae, “I dare you to marry Joe.”
That's the best idea she's ever had. It may be the best idea any of them have ever had. It may beat the elephant sanctuary. Quynh gasps into her hands, Booker is frozen with his glass halfway to his mouth, and Nicky—
“Nicky, my heart,” Joe says, clasps Nicky’s warm hands in his, “will you marry me?”
--
Nile (and also fandom) like to guess how many times Nicky and Joe have been married. What if the answer is zero?

Summary
Jim wrote a romance novel just to prove he could. Then someone leaked it on the public Starfleet server, and suddenly his embarrassingly smutty and sentimental Human/Vulcan love story is all over campus. Luckily for Jim, no one knows that he’s the author. Unluckily for Jim, someone forwarded the novel to the staff of the Vulcan embassy. Now, every Vulcan in San Francisco is reassessing the logical merits of taking Human bondmates.
Spock reads a Human/Vulcan romance novel because he can hardly avoid it. Suddenly, he is consumed by the need to locate the author, ascertain their wellbeing, and instruct them in the way of Vulcan mating bonds. Luckily for Spock, it doesn't take long to identify the author as Jim Kirk. Unluckily for Spock, Jim is unconscious and surrounded by interested Vulcans who also read the book.

Summary
In a different time, a more naive time, Sherlock thought he was the star and John the satellite, circling him in worshipful orbit. He knows now that was never true. John was always the sun, bright and fierce, and Sherlock was the pale, cold moon, his only heat coming from the light he reflected.
And then his sun went into supernova. Moriarty said he would burn him and he has, and John is the fire, his rage and grief incinerating Sherlock, burning the heart out of him in the end, turning him into nothing but cinder and ash. And now the supernova is collapsing, a black hole born where there was once warmth and heat and love, and Sherlock is being pulled down, down past the event horizon, into the endless frozen void where nothing can ever escape.
