“Hey Kanata! What did you think of the play?” Chiaki poked his friend lightly, making sure not to let his finger touch the water. Kanata had escaped to the school fountain (as usual), and once his class finished breaking down the stage they'd used, Chiaki had been asked to bring him back. Well, more like he volunteered- Why wouldn't he, when he already knew exactly where Kanata would be? While they were surprising at first, the boy's usual haunts were pretty memorable. There weren't too many bodies of water nearby, anyway. And Chiaki was fairly certain he wouldn't have gone all the way to the ocean without saying goodbye. Well- Maybe not, but at least Chiaki's instincts had been right this time.
In which Chiaki finds a foolproof way to confess to Kanata- or he tries to, anyway.
