    Summary

Astarion wouldn"t dare compare Gale’s very clearly lovingly maintained kitchen to a campfire and a chest of pilfered cheese and stale bread. But the feeling of it, the easy companionship, sharing the day’s burden of woes with someone who understands? That"s familiar. And that, he didn"t even realise he missed. Only now, watching Gale potter around his kitchen and chatter in much the same way he used to potter around the cookpot, Astarion feels… settled.
    Maybe even comfortable.
    Oh.
    Oh dear.
Before he can stand and take his leave, go back to the contract in Calimshan and pretend this embarrassing little episode never happened, Gale sets a goblet down in front of him.
Just in passing. Drops it off on his way to the teapot. Like he thinks nothing of it.
But it"s blood. Fresh, too. Pig, if Astarion"s nose can be trusted, which obviously it can. He takes a tentative sip. Then downs the rest before Gale has finished pouring his tea.
“It"s warm,” Astarion says, nonplussed, staring at the now-empty goblet. It would be beneath his dignity to lick it. He"s no starving wretch now. But it is tempting all the same.

    Summary

It goes something like this: Astarion wakes up flat in the dirt, hands tied behind his back, bleeding. His head aches.

Wyll stands over him, uncharacteristically scared. "Astarion," he says, fast and frantic. "Are you back to yourself?"

There are two puncture wounds on his neck.

(It goes something like this: Astarion wakes up. The party says he attacked them. He does not remember this.)

Cazador forbade them from entering the waters of Baldur’s Gate. For one, it would not do for the commoners to see the children of such a renowned face in dark, muddy waters, wading around like filthy ducks.

For another, they would get horribly burnt.

aka: astarion finds out just how horribly burnt he becomes, in more ways than one.

    Summary

Astarion found himself watching Gale more than he was watching Dirty Dancing. He looked quite young to be getting divorced, he thought to himself. The gossip in him was dying to know the full story, but he knew full well that it would be really stupid to start prying into a practical stranger’s personal life.

As he was about to ask, because fuck it, he was probably never seeing this man again, Gale reached below his seat and grabbed a notebook and pen from a satchel. A satchel. The man was going on what amounted to a mid life crisis of a holiday (or, to be fairer to him, a third of a life crisis, because he looked to be about Astarion’s age), and he’d brought a satchel?!

    **

Lawyer Astarion Ancunín had a chance encounter with film professor Gale Dekarios on a flight to New York. And then another chance encounter at a bar. And when he found out he’s in the middle of a messy divorce, well, what was Astarion to do? Aside from sleep with him, which was obviously a given.

Astarion didn’t believe in love stories. But life had accidentally thrown him into one of his own.

“Oh, just a quick song,” Gale nudged Mr. Acunin toward the piano, “I would love to hear it.”

“Last time I played, you told me my song choice was ‘woefully improper’,” Mr. Acunin pointed out, making his way forward.

“You played Dido’s Lament,” Gale scoffed, “Miss Cliffgate was crying.

Despite being constantly at odds, Mr. Dekarios and Mr. Acunin decide to attend the Yuletide Ball together under false pretenses, hoping to save themselves from persistent mothers and unwanted suitors.
