It surfaces and glares up at the ship, and Hax nearly drops the searchlight out of shock. A human face and human torso, dotted with scales. It has a head of shaggy, sea-green hair intertwined with wet flowers and piercing blue eyes that seem to glow in the dim light. A tail flips in and out of the water as it keeps speed with the ship.
“Holy shit,” Hax says.
The creature bares its teeth at him in what could generously be called a smile. Ivory white, razor-sharp. Its features are unearthly in their beauty.
