    Summary

Jon yawns from his spot on the couch, stretches his arms over his head, and then falls into Martin’s lap.

“God, I’m exhausted. I don’t think I’ll make it into bed tonight; I barely have the energy to braid my hair.”

I could braid it for you . It’s the sort of thought that used to flash across Martin’s mind occasionally only to be immediately quashed, back when he was still pining after Jon with a fondness he never hoped would be reciprocated. Now, though, there’s nothing stopping him from making the offer out loud, so he does.

“Oh.” Jon blinks up at him. “Could you?”

Martin braids Jon's hair. That's it, that's the fic.

“What—what about Martin?” Jon asked her, tripping over his words in the rush to get them out. “Did his plan work, i-is Elias—is Martin alright? Elias didn’t—didn’t hurt him, or…?” He trailed off at the look on Basira’s face, not somber or serious as it had been before, but utterly confused, brows drawn, mouth pinched.

    “Who’s Martin?” she asked.

Or, Peter Lukas takes a different approach in isolating Martin from the world. He is forgotten by everyone who has ever known him. Except Jon.

    Summary

Not too long after Jon and Basira return from Ny-Ålesund, a Leitner that forces its reader to always tell the truth works its way into the Institute, and it's only a matter of time before our dear Archivist accidentally (well. Sort of.) finds himself cursed by it. Any question asked of him produces a fully truthful answer, and the more he tries to resist, the more honest and personal the confessions become. Can he and the Archives staff fix this while he still has some secrets left to himself? Or will they succumb completely to their oldest and toughest enemy: direct communication.

    Summary

“Well, I've never run a museum, but refusing to socialise with anyone who works there doesn't seem like the only way forward,” says Georgie. The Admiral places an inquisitive paw on her chin. “Just my two cents.”

And what could he say to that? Jon would have happily continued along his established track of failed curmudgeonly authority if the cat-situation hadn't come along to bond him and his co-workers in hushing up some gross museological malpractice.

(Oh, Jon knows it's just Martin. He wouldn't have thought twice about inviting Tim or Sasha over, and he knows exactly why. Not addressing that 'why' is a deliberate choice: whatever he feels for Martin needs a sturdy dam, or he'll find himself lost in the flood before long.)
