    Summary

Without the Guide Moogles and moving walkways, she realized it was going to take twice as long to get back to the hotel. Great. Exactly what she needed. More time to obsess over what had happened between them only minutes earlier.

    Summary

Astarion's face was cruel and angular in the half-light of the darkened library, stark shadows cast across his features, lips curled into a teasing smile.

The Dispel Magic spell rushed over him faster than he could answer it, dark and sour like a sickening wave, and the invisibility curled away from his body like the burnt edge of a newspaper.

He should have known this had all been far too easy.

    ---

Gale hadn't spoken to Astarion since a few days after the ascension. Whatever happened between them is long gone now-- and if he let himself be baited into returning to the vampire's palace to steal a certain magical text, it certainly wasn't because there was something in the cruelty of Astarion's new power that appealed to him.

    Summary

“What's he like?” she asks. “Your wizard?”

He seems to think about it for a moment.

“Arrogant,” he finally says. “Insufferably clever. He claimed he could have been Mystra's Chosen, but he turned her down.”

The group (sans Tav) meet Astarion by the beach. They don't meet Gale. If you ask Astarion, that just means they have to look harder.

    Summary

High elves, of all the peoples of Faerun, are the closest to the Weave. Magic is their right, it runs through their veins. But Astarion died two centuries ago. There's a lot he's forgotten, and even more that's simply a half filled in sketch, just out of reach. While he can still summon fire to his fingers, he does it by rote, or perhaps merely muscle memory.

Gale decides to teach him what magic should feel like.

For the bloodweave brainrot November art/fic swap.

    Summary

These days, most everybody in camp had learned to wave away Astarion’s advances with a laugh. They found the flirtation titillating, Gale figured, or a bit threatening, or some combination of the two. He wondered if anybody else found it sad.
    --
Good old-fashioned rumination on choice and compulsion. Gale and Astarion shake off their metaphorical shackles.
