Shadow's red eyes bore into yours with an uncertain tenacity, his arms caging over your lower body as he awaited your worded consent. You were lost in them; swimming with impenetrable mysteries, singed with a trademark analytic calm and littered with deep, unresolved complexes.
Somehow, his usual self-guarding was not there; not enough to seal away the care for your wellbeing anyway, softening any hardness his gaze could have possibly held.
