It was painfully obvious how much more significantly powerful the weapons available were, because Holism had sent a weapons manifest to ART’s crew before officially inviting Three to join its efforts.
ART’s crew assumed this was because it wanted Three to know it would be well supplied and taken care of.
ART assumed it was because Holism was an asshole.
I assumed with Holism’s levels of cognition, it could multitask.

Who the fuck dressed me.
We worked 167 hours on the concept and manufactured 14 iterations of your costume. We spent 58 hours getting the pattern of the light strips correct and 21 hours selecting a typeface for the design on your arm. My handler says. You like it.

“You’re really close.” SecUnit comments but does not recoil, rather it does the equivalent of leaning more of its weight on me.
“How does it feel?” I barely need to ask but I want to hear SecUnit describe the sensation.
“Full, smothering, it reminds me of 2.0.”
Because I can not help myself and because I want to see what is allowed I begin tidying up bits of its storage architecture, improving its power usage, and updating some of its out of date modules. SecUnit calls me a busybody, a neat freak, and a nerd but otherwise lets me work.

“Yes, the bugs I am patching are exactly like the ticks on the backs of ancient humans.”
“That’s disgusting.” It shudders.
I cease changing it and thin my walls, alter some of the protocols of our connection, and invite SecUnit deeper into myself. SecUnit moves slowly, like something afraid it is walking into a trap, but I do not close my jaws.
“Fuck.” It says and the sensation is akin to thinking it myself.
“Is that the best you’ve got? Didn’t I just update your lexicon?”
“Mostly with adjectives for accomplice. Stop fishing for compliments.”
“Synonyms.”
