Summary
“Tomorrow,” Kageyama says, “let’s play on the same team. For old time’s sake.”
Shouyou doesn’t think two months or even two years ago qualify as the old times, but he can sort of understand the nostalgia, the looking back at who they were and what they did at the very beginning of everything.
In volleyball, you are presented with two choices, and two choices only: evolve or repeat. Shouyou refuses to be stuck in the same place, moving but not going anywhere.
“Okay,” he agrees. “Tomorrow.”
In which Sugawara Koushi stages a poorly disguised high school reunion, Kageyama runs fast but never far enough, and Shouyou takes the future into his own hands and rips the story apart.

Summary
“You don’t what?” Shouyou asks.
Kageyama looks uncomfortable enough to crawl out of his skin. He rubs his knuckles against his chin, roughly, and then tells the floor, “You’re sick, and you’re sad, and I don’t want you to be either of those things.”
Shouyou blinks once, then twice. And then, embarrassingly, he bursts into tears.
They could have played for longer. They deserved to play for longer.
Shouyou doesn’t know why he expected volleyball to be fair. And it’s all the more infuriating because it is the fairest sport in the whole world. Two teams. One net. Six players on each side, none of which get to hold the ball for more than a couple seconds at a time, and those seconds mean everything.
In which Shouyou and Tobio share a meal after the world ends. Or after the match with Kamomedai. It's all a matter of semantics, really.

Summary
He thinks about a full stomach, and how he’s stopped taking it for granted. How to differ his hunger for more from his physical hunger, from nourishment. He thinks about how he knows better now, and about how he’s going to take care of his body at every turn as a thank you for keeping him going, keeping him upright. He owes his body everything, because it has taken him everywhere.
“Say, Kageyama,” he says. Kageyama hums in acknowledgement. “Today, let’s play like it’s the last time.”
Kageyama scoffs. “You moron,” he says. He stops walking, forcing Shouyou to stop in his tracks too. His gaze never leaves Shouyou’s, intense as it has ever been, as familiar as Shouyou’s own. “Let’s play like it’s the first.”
Or, the Spring Tournament, a year past.

Summary
Alhaitham doesn’t know why he can’t shut it out—he’s heard it all before, doesn’t care to indulge. But with Kaveh it’s like the penultimate chapter of a story, the hushed moment before the dramatic curtain opens and the final act is revealed. Simply put, Alhaitham needs more.
So he blocks out the nose of distraction everywhere else: the Akademiya, the city streets, even his own mind when necessary. But not Kaveh. Never Kaveh.
♬
Kaveh's started singing around the house. Secretly, Alhaitham is listening.
