“Don’t you think you’re a hypocrite Shouto?” the words are said directly. Katsuki is facing him head-on, resentful gaze directed wholly at him.
The words falter at the tip of his tongue. “What?”
“I said don’t you think you’re a fucking hypocrite? What, you expect me to tell you things when you’re the one who brings someone over every other week without so much as a glance?”
A hot flash of shame runs through him. And then, the cold feeling that comes with being deceived. Because if anyone else said that to him, he’d think they were calling him a whore. But it’s Katsuki. He’s outing him as a traitor while also revealing he’s thought of this before. And he never told Shouto. Since when did Katsuki hide things? If there’s one person who hates hiding parts of themselves, it’s him. Did Shouto no longer have access to these parts of him anymore? What else has he lost access to?

Soon, he learns that Sunny’s phone is not a secret one that he’s bought with his hard-earned allowance and smuggled in like Wooyoung, but that he’s earned temporary phone privileges for doing well on his last evaluation. Sunny says he’s expecting to lose them soon, struggling to keep up with his dance classes. He finds singing easier, reads manga in his free time, and if he didn’t want to be an idol, he’d continue with taekwondo.

As the sun begins to set, the sky explodes into a watercolor painting with the contrast turned all the way up. Vermilion bleeds into magenta and at least three different shades of orange. The clouds burst, shadowed against the colors with sharp edges. San has never seen anything like it.
“I can only think of one reason,” he says quietly, throat sore and voice raw. His lips are dry as he blows out a heavy breath. “What if it’s a second chance?”

After a series of events that leave Wooyoung a shell of his former self, terrified of the cruelty he hadn't previously known the world was capable of, San is brought in as his personal, full-time bodyguard.
San is excellent at his job, which is all this is. A job. How could he have known this one wouldn't be like all the others?

Summary
San’s parents were soulmates. Before he learned anything about soulmates in elementary school, he knew what it meant. Soulmates were fated, born for each other, to be with each other. Soulmates were beautiful. He remembers the pit in his stomach when his teacher explained that most people didn’t have a soulmate. He watched his mum and dad every day, saw the way they moved around each other, worked together, and loved each other from the depths of their souls.
He couldn’t imagine not having that for himself, and for a long time, he looked to the sky every night and hoped that someone out there was born to be with him, born for him.
This wasn’t what he thought having a soulmate would be like. Not what he pictured. He had to remind himself that he and Wooyoung didn’t fit the mold of typical soulmates. They were idols. Cursed to be with each other nearly every waking moment, day and night, but forced to maintain distance.
An incredibly ironic tragedy.
