Summary
Blitzo kept his eyes trained on what had been their tent, now a pile of ash and rubble. The fire had torn through the fabric so quickly, the frame collapsing in on itself like a house of cards. All of Blitzo’s childhood memories now lay underneath a mess of charred wood. As though hypnotised, he walked towards their home in a fugue state. A path he had walked so many times that even with half vision, lungs full of smoke and a broken heart, he followed it easily. He had taken his first steps here. His momma used to give him a piggyback when his feet hurt.
He wanted to sink to the ground just to be near the dust he had once been a child in.

“Blitz,” Stolas says, and his voice is harder than Blitz was expecting it to be. Blitz winces and braces for impact. “You didn’t ruin my life.”

Wait. What?
“I didn’t?” Blitz asks, and his tongue feels like it’s too big for his mouth.
“No, Blitz, of course you didn’t,” Stolas tells him, and he sounds so fucking sincere that Blitz has no choice but to believe him. “You saved it.”
