Summary
Henry is just staring at him when Alex finally drops his hands. His jaw is clenched like he’s trying to hide a grin, but he’s not really succeeding. He licks his bottom lip, then points at Alex, before flipping his hand and making a ‘come here’ motion.
Alex’s blood is boiling. His feet manage to walk themselves, which is good because Alex’s brain is entirely offline. It’s not even in the building with them anymore. Henry is walking toward him, stunning as always with his mussed golden hair and blue eyes that are burning holes through Alex.
They meet in the middle of the stage, Alex reaching for his shoulders, and Henry grasping at his hips. Alex jumps slightly, wrapping his legs seamlessly around Henry’s tiny fucking waist where he catches Alex easily.

Three weeks before Henry Fox's tour for his fourth, highly anticipated, awards-bait novel A Brief War in December begins, his publicist Janella breaks her foot on a bunny slope at Windham.
Alex can't be mad at her, even though he kind of is. Saying it out loud would be like kicking her when she was down, and she already went down a literal mountain in the worst way possible.
Now crammed in Rafael Luna's corner office, Janella is shooting Alex extremely apologetic looks while slumped on her crutches, wearing a bright orange cast. The conversation about who is going to be joining Henry Fox on his multi-city trek across the U.S. is also going downhill. Alex is feeling the same sort of free fall while standing still.
Because out of all the publicists available in their tiny underfunded department, the only one left to escort their company's best-selling author is regrettably him.
The problem is, well, Alex absolutely hates Henry Fox.
Or: Alex is the publicist for Mountchristen Publishers, and is stuck on a two-week tour with their best-selling, but frustrating, author Henry Fox.

It's been said his entire life, usually followed by a quip about his charm or his public speaking, his ability to impassion entire crowds of people when he talks about climate change or equality or voting rights or gun control. Occasionally, it's referencing his appearance, his unruly curls or his grin, the dimple that only pops when he's smiling particularly widely. Entire articles have been written about Alex's power of persuasion, the way he seems to be able to get people to blush and stumble over their words and rush to help him.
He fucking hates those articles because they have no idea just how close they are to the truth.
