Adding some burn to Lucanis's slow burn romance without undermining his journey through a series of loosely connected stories that fill in the gaps and build out the narrative I felt missing/head cannoned from a first playthrough. Rook is a Shadow Dragon female mage.
From discussions about certain story decisions to building out spite’s storyline to addressing Rook’s inability to swim to Bellara’s using certain members of the Veilguard for writing “inspiration”, most characters appears.
This story will reference main storyline beats and moments from the game.

“Viago,” Teia’s voice was near reproachful, hoping to reach a speck of reason. It didn’t matter.
Her words cut him first, so he struck back. It wasn’t the first time they would nip at each other, they had close to twenty years of practice. But the split was coming for a long time. She should have seen it.
“She wants to be a hero, so be it. It’s not for us crows to understand.”
Viago didn’t even look at her when he said that, then turned on his heel and left. The immediate silence afterward grew within her lungs like thick mold. The sudden surge of helplessness — of losing her home — was swiftly replaced by anger.This fic will focus on CrowRook & Lucanis pairing, with the possibility of future additions and some familial angst. Mostly canon-compliant, I'm just filling in the blanks. In my HCs, Teia and Viago are in their 40s, while Rook is 30ish.

Summary

Selora only knows the Demon of Vyrantium through the stories told about him but, as it turned out, breaking him out of the Ossuary was the easy part. Fresh out of a Venatori prison, possessed by a demon, and reeling from the loss of his grandmother, Lucanis is wary of them but committed to completing the contract Caterina left for him.
As the Disgraced Crow and Crow-Turned-Abomination gain each other's trust and learn to work together against the larger threat facing Thedas, they realize their respective pasts have positioned them right where they needed to be to find each other.
