JJ laughed at that, seeming completely unaffected. It ticked her off, she wanted to see him with a bruised ego, not an elevated one. “So what is it then?”
“What is what?” she asked annoyed as she sipped her drink.
“What did I do to make you hate me so much? Ya know, I can't fix it if I don't know what I did wrong.”
She rolled her eyes, “Maybe I just can't stand your personality.”
“I doubt that, I got a great personality,” he winked at her and it made her even angrier, feeling her hands ball into fists out of reflex.
OR
Pride and Prejudice but make it Jiara. In a world where Kiara never became a pogue, stayed at the Kook academy, stayed friends with Sarah, and really, really hated that pogue, JJ Maybank (except she really didn't hate him at all).

“Yeah, you’ve got a real mess over there.” Kiara checked the time on her phone and winced. If she was already running late though, what was another five minutes? “Alright, show me what you’ve fixed so far.”
JJ waved her off with the rag. “You ain’t gotta do all that. Lookin’ all nice and shit. I’m sure you’ve got better places to be.”
And she did, truthfully. The restaurant Sarah’d picked out for the night looked divine: gorgeous vaulted ceilings, Instagram worthy cocktails, and a menu full of ethically sourced produce that she wouldn’t have to pay a dime for.
So why would she rather bake in the sun helping JJ with his busted bike engine?
“I can spare a minute.”

He took a sip of his milkshake, something unreadable passing across his face. “So what? You want me to hook you up? News flash, we don’t know that many people.”
She didn’t say anything immediately, because, wow. Apparently the prospect was even more out of left field than she thought. Her expression and silence said plenty, because she could see the moment his face changed when it dawned on him.
“You’ve lost it,” he declared.
________________________________Kiara is sick of her mom badgering her about the single groomsmen at her cousin's wedding, so obviously, taking JJ as her date is the perfect solution. It won't be complicated. Not at all.
