"It"s just like California all over again. You know you get mad when people break their promises but you break promises all the time!"
"I didn"t break my promise!" Mike defends himself before he can think better of it.
"You never even wrote me one letter!"
"No," Mike shakes his head and sets his shoulders back. His heart is beating as fast as a hummingbird"s as he forces the words past his dry throat. "I never sent one letter."

"How are you so calm about this man?" Eddie asks looking at him over his shoulder. "Is time travel like a thing now?"
Steve opens his mouth to say no but then he thinks about it. Time travel could be a thing but if it was it would be so regulated the government wouldn"t tell the general population. He"s well aware of several things the government tries to keep hush-hush. "I don"t think so," he says tentatively. "I"ve just seen a lot of shit."
"Yeah," Eddie shudders and looks back out the window. "I know the feeling."

Defeating Vecna and destroying the Upside Down wasn"t without consequence. They"d thought that the earthquakes that ripped craters throughout Hawkins were it. At least they did until Steve found an eighties metalhead in his basement.

Summary
After everything that happened during Spring Break, life for everyone in Hawkins returned to somewhat normal. Well, aside from Steve"s new friendship with one Eddie Munson.
The gang decide they all deserve a break and head to Steve"s family beach house for a week, featuring copious amounts of fluff, found family bonding, blurring (or completely ignoring) the line between platonic and romantic, and bullying being considered flirting.

“I won’t die if you don’t,” Eddie whispers.
Steve shifts so he’s positioned in front of Eddie, acting as a human shield. He opens his mouth to respond, but it’s pointless, because Vecna’s voice takes over a second later, filling the room, their ears, their minds.
When the fourth chime of the clock rings out, chaos descends.
