Harvey freezes beneath the street lamp. He looks as if he’s the one who’s been hunted down in this deserted place after dark, his path crossed by not one, but two eldritch creatures. Sobering, to realize that it isn’t Armand alone who’s made their friend afraid.

Face pressed into the cheap couch; teeth digging into the soft flesh between his neck and his shoulder; an apology that follows only a second later that splatters Daniel’s own blood over his broken skin.The prize for Screw-Up of the Century surely goes to Daniel Molloy, who couldn’t just let a regular drug habit be what imploded his entire life. Mated, knocked up, and apparently widowed in under one week, with only blurry memories to account for it.

Daniel hated to admit it, but he had been avoiding Armand. Or perhaps the term young people used nowadays was ghosting. He hadn’t responded to any of the other man’s tinder messages and had been avoiding the restuarant where they had their first and only date like the plague. It was a cowardly move, he knew. What he should’ve done was just message Armand and outright say he wasn’t interested in pursuing a relationship with him.
